Tools you will need for Online Advertising

You have invested precious money into setting up a website
but it doesn't seem to be making a difference to your
sales. In fact, your website is hardly getting any hits.
What could be wrong? For starters, your website may be badly
designed and not user friendly. Or maybe the copywriting is
dull and boring and doesn't entice visitors enough to buy
your products or services over those of your competitors.
Your visitors may be accessing your home page and then
moving on to some other site without going through the other
pages of your site where the real information is. The reason
could lie in any of the above but it's impossible to find
out which one unless you obtain the necessary tools that
track the hits to your site and provide feedback on your
visitors.
Internet marketing is remarkable not because of its ability
to reach the biggest consumer base to date or because it can
target special groups of consumers effectively. Its
uniqueness lies in its capacity to gather and process
information about people.
Of all the inventions of the Information Age, the internet
is probably the most prized. Print or television advertising
only tells you how many people had occasion to see your ad.
You cannot know if they read through or watched the ad. All
you know is that your ad aired on a certain channel at a
certain time or that a certain number of people bought the
publication in which you ad was published. People may buy
your products or services because they have seen or read
your ad, but you won't know what in your ad caused them to
buy or perhaps not to buy.
There are tools on the internet that can give you feedback
about every hit on your website. For example, where each
visitor went and which pages he/she accessed. You can also
get details of the other websites they accessed. Once you
have this information regarding the surfing habits and
interests of your visitors, you can easily fine tune your
advertising strategy at a nominal cost (if any). Conversely,
an ad placed in a newspaper or aired on television cannot be
changed in this way. You just have to keep your fingers
crossed that the ad works and it translates into increased
sales.
If you are going to get the benefits of online advertising,
do not forget that the Internet is about information. This
knowledge is what makes the medium so powerful and effective
where advertising is concerned. Do not make the mistake of
going to all the trouble of creating a website without
getting software that can help you fine tune your site so
that it brings in the most customers possible. If you
already have the software or if you have a package that
includes tracking information on visitors, use it!
Combining the size of the Internet market with its
tracking advantages is a sure combination for success but
you have to own and use the online tools that make this
medium the most effective advertising medium in history.
