Using the Public to Help Your Marketing
by Scott F. Geld

Without a shadow of a doubt, recommendation or word of
mouth was the earliest form of marketing. Even in primitive
times, people knew from whom they could get the supplies
they needed. Without other methods such as radio or
newspapers, trade relied entirely on recommendations. This
method is still with us today.

How to Use Word of Mouth Marketing

As this is a highly effective marketing technique, it pays
to get it right. You might be surprised by how easy this
actually is. Word of mouth is still vitally important, even
in the age of the Internet. Do not underestimate just how
much effect a happy customer can have on your sales.

You want your customers to have such a good experience that
they move on and tell all of their friends. You want people
to talk about your company or product and build up the
publicity. This is such a great way to increase sells. Word
of mouth is what people say about you or your company.

Generating talk can be difficult if you product is not
particuarly different to others already available. However,
if you have a unique item with special features, people
will automatically discuss your product with little
prompting.

A great way to raise your profile with the public is to do
something such as participating in a community event or
making a donation to charity. This will automatically
encourage people to take notice of and talk about your
organization.

Getting People to Talk More

One excellent tip for when it comes to word of mouth
marketing is that honesty always works to your advantage.
When you prove to your customers that you are honest and no
one is out to scam them, they will spread that positive
message to other people.

You should also remember that often simpler is better. And
you should never make claim that you can not back up.
Lastly, you should also treat your customers kindly and with
respect. They will enjoy the experience and then go on to
tell other people and you and your company.
