Worldwide, many people start a business by looking toward
the internet with hopes of cashing in on the worldwide
web's popularity. People are turning to the internet for
unlimited products and services and because of low startup
costs, E-startups see millions of potential customers they
can showcase their product or services to.

The "jump in with both feet"approach is what I like to call
many peoples entrance into the internet business world, and
without researching costs or potential, they see a few of
the millions of offers, and buy into something after only
looking at a few. In their eagerness to start their
business venture, they fail to begin the journey properly.

So many people today start wrong and fail to make money or
become overwhelmed by what to do to get customers to their
site and just give up. Some jump from one thing to another
thinking the next program or offer they try will be their
"ticket to riches" only to fail over and over. Their belief
is that the program or offer they are doing is at fault.

When people come to me, after struggling with their
business, the first thing they usually say is "I don't
know why..." or "I don't know what..." and I stop them
right there. The problems they have lie in the first three
words of both of those statements, "I don't know." Their
success was minimalized because they didn't know where to
begin, didn't know how to build or run the business, and
didn't know how to promote it.

So,lets talk about how to make your start-up a successful
one. The first step, before making any plans or buying
anything, is to do some research and educate yourself.
Spend time researching domain names, web hosting, site
building, wholesalers, popular products, and, most
importantly, marketing. Marketing is key because without
it you have no customers, and without customers you have
no sales or profit.

Keep the b word: business, in your mind. This is a business
you are starting and as you begin it, run it, and market it
you should treat it as one. You wouldn't order products
without a place to sell them nor would you lease a building
and put up a sign with out a product to sell. Begin with a
plan.Do your research first, and the internet is the
perfect place to obtain "free" information. Most searches
on the web are for information and there are many great
sources found there. Remember to check many sources and
compare them to make sure your getting quality information.

A business plan will be your next step. Make a list of all
the things you will need for your business, where you have
found to get them, and very important is what it will cost.
Decide how and where you will promote your business, and
what your marketing budget will be.Marketing, I believe,
should encompass a majority of your time and budget because
you must have customers to succeed in business. Did you
ever buy a pet rock or a clay figurine that grows grass
hair? Things like these are sold by great marketing plans
to millions of people.

Now that you have read all of this, you know the secret
to a successful business--THERE IS NO SECRET. Being
knowledgable, having a business plan, and working steadily
and carefully is the trick to a thriving business that
will bring you the income you desire. And if riches are
what you desire, those are possible too. So, follow these
steps again and again... many times over and you will
succeed. Good Luck!
