In his book, "What To Say When You Talk To Yourself",
Shad Helmstetter gives a wonderful treatise on how
our habits of "Self Talk" and taking responsibility
for these can help us to make dramatic shifts in our
thinking and behaviour.
I was introduced to "What To Say When You Talk To
Yourself" by Shad Helmstetter through a networking
group and mastemind called the Magnetic Thinking
Corporation which exists multinationally.
He identifies 4 levels of Self Talk in this book.
The first level of is the level of negative acceptance.
Example: "I can't..." If we are saying something to
ourselves which negates the truth of our infinite
ability as human beings, we are using level 1 Self Talk.
When we are acknowledging the need for change in
the form "I should" or "I ought to..." we are using
up a level to 2 - Self Talk. Note this is just a system
of categorization of the different forms of self talk
as identified by the author of the book - WTDWYTTY.
In self talk level 3, we are saying to ourselves,
either mentally, conciously or in conversation
the decision to change. e.g. "I no longer..."
"I never..." I no longer smoke. I no longer eat
chocolate. I never get drunk etc.
Level 4 is the first truly positive self talk and is
the present tense form of self-affirmation or
identification - "I am..." e.g. I believe in myself
and am positive, open minded and honest, I demonstrate
integrity in all my affairs and I'm 100% organized and
responsible for my life in all it's areas. I feel joyful,
because I acknowledge and act upon my responsibility and
ability to achieve my goals easily and effortlessly.
The final level of self talk, level 5 self talk as
categorized by Helmstetter is the "Level of Universal
Affirmation." When we're using this kind of "Self Talk"
we are speaking of a unity of spirit and communicating
from a concious perspective of divine and timeless
cosmic affinity. A transcended state where our being
has a clear and crisp purpose and meaning. Examples
are "I am one with the universe and the universe is
one with me"
The first four levels are to be astered first. Becoming
aware of how you talk to yourself and in conversation
can be a very enlightening experience, especially when
we choose to take control of our self talk and begin
to reprogram ourselves with a constant barrage of positive
self talk. To paraphrase Shad Helmstetter, just when our
subconcious mind thinks we've had enough, that's when
to bombard it with a lot more self-talk to show it we
really mean business!
The great thing the author of this article likes about
the expressed concept of "Self Talk" is that the method
of creating self-talk is far beyond affirmation, because
it tackles challenges from all angles, builds self-belief
and encourages personal responsibility with a strong
focus on positive self-belief and affirming truths
about oneself and creating huge shifts in awareness,
behavior and results in a short space of time. Bombarding
the subconcious mind with this goodness is definitely
something which will counteract the negative bombardment
of media, advertising and propoganda present in so many
forms in all countries either subtle or blatant.
It will cost you under 10USD for a copy of the book
aforementioned and if you were inspired by this

and highly recommends you study and aply it's teachings
ASAP for great results.
