Dirty SEO Tricks to Avoid
by Desmond Mantor

Webmasters score high on search engine list using search
engine optimisation. But sometimes one can get carried away
and use some unfair means to achieve high rankings. You must
avoid the following dirty SEO tricks if you want to steer
clear of unnecessary blacklisting by the search engines.

Hidden Text

Invisible or hidden text involves creating web pages with
keyword rich text, which is of the same color as the
background. This text is not visible to the visitor but can
be spotted easily by the search engine crawlers. This
technique gives good results by giving high search engine
ranking. However, this unethical practice once found by the
search engine drops you off the search engine rankings
completely.

Wrong submission

Some people think that submitting their webpage using
automatic submission software will get instant results.
Some such packages promise submission to 500 search engines
and more. Don't fall for it! Such submission can be "Spam".
In addition, there at best, 8 - 10 good search engines that
are worth the trouble of submitting to. You will only be
wasting your time and money using these useless submission
software. It is better to concentrate on a few good search
engines and submit your site once a month for good results.

Doorway Pages

Some web masters create doorway pages specifically for
search engines and not for human visitors. They are not
ethical as they do not provide any information to the
visitors. You might initially get very good ranking on
the search engines but once your doorway pages are caught
by the search engine, they will ban your web site forever.

Free for all Links

Linking is a great way to get high listing with search
engines, but, at the same time, do not be open to all kind
of links. Some companies offer large number of links at a
small cost so you must be aware of such things. The reason
for this is that they might link you to those sites, which
are not worth any good. Don't exchange your links with any
web site until you know how good it is and how they will be
helpful. Dirty linking tricks are also on the rise so it is
better to find a quality-linking partner.
